Something new....

...This is something I decided to try because I have several old windows that I have picked up along the way. (Yes, I am a confessed dumpster diver!) When I first began picking them up, I had intended to paint on them but I have a familial tremor that has gotten worse the past couple of years and I do very little detailed painting anymore. My hands tremble and it is hard to keep a brush steady. I have had them so long and I couldn't justify sending them to the landfill, so I began thinking of ways I could use them other than painting them. I once saw an old window that had been transformed to a mosaic, so I thought I would give it a try. Since the Fourth is coming up quickly, I decided to do an Americana theme, particulary, Olde Glory, and here she is!
...She's not perfect but this was my first attempt. I hope to do more of them and improve on them. It is not perfectly aligned because the glass beads are not symmetrical. There are slight differences in each one of them. I decided to leave the asymmetrical layout because a flag, hanging on a pole, or flying in the wind, would not look as though it were laid out on a table. There would be rumples in the lines and no two flags would be the same. Now, there's something to ponder....
